With this new album entitled WARM UP, Étienne de Crécy is not afraid of anything. The man who gets people moving at night imagines a record to listen to at home during the day: with tracks that are more chill than clubbing, more organic than electronic, more warm than metallic. Has he gone mad? Rather, it's the world, then in the midst of Covid, a time not conducive to making beats resonate, that led him to an album to experience at home. A change of tempo. Another particularity of the opus: the featuring. He decides to invite on each track an artist often very far from the scene that is his, to whom he asks to freely write a song from the instrumental that he will entrust to him, for all modus operandi.
He thus leaves a certain comfort zone, that of the club and a cube that has carried him high, of a dancefloor heated to white heat by his sets, of an album where he would be the sole master on board, for a sound universe with deliberately more blurred contours – the typo of the album title being proof –, and crazier too – the casting that he brings together contains its share of unexpected personalities, with musical influences ranging from indie-pop to rap. The DJ of dizzying hours reinvents himself here as a generous, curious room driver, with contagious pleasure.
