Bumpy - Kanana (LP)

In Bumpy’s words: “A lot of these pieces are tracks from the commission I did with the Australian Art Orchestra and Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

It saw me return back to Noongar country to connect with family, country and engage further in my language journey. Arranged and performed differently to what was presented at the launch show.

My Nan, Rose Whitehurst, wrote the first Noongar dictionary, who I am also named after, so this album represents connection in all different ways.  A previous single ‘Return Home’ spoke about yearning for this connection and this album is all about the return.

The first EP is titled ‘Morning Sun’ and this is Kanana meaning Land Where the Sunsets. Unintentional, but beautifully aligned that this album presents a homecoming and full circle.”
