Notably influenced by experimental rock, Lil Yachty's Let's Start Here completely departs from the sound of his prior albums, incorporating elements of jazz and exploratory psychedelia to create an entirely new sound for the rapper.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Tame Impala, a previous collaborator, the album features production and songwriting contributions from Mac DeMarco, Jacob Portrait (Unknown Mortal Orchestra), Ben Goldwasser (MGMT), and many more.
